About the club

Our story.

How a youth wrestling program in Scottsdale set out to do things differently.

Three years ago, Head Coach Jason Lopez took over this program with a simple but ambitious goal: pass along a lifelong love of wrestling to the next generation, and build something that didn't look like every other youth program in the Valley.

He built it on three things — honor, discipline, and hard work. Not as slogans on a wall, but as the standard for every single practice. If you've spent any time around our room, you've probably already heard the phrase that's become the heartbeat of this program:

"Get comfortable being uncomfortable."

It's not about being tough for the sake of it. It's about teaching a kid that discomfort is where the growth actually happens — and that they're capable of a lot more than they think, once they stop trying to avoid the hard part.

Since then, the Wolves have grown into a real competition program, built by coaches who've lived this sport at the highest levels and run by a philosophy that never treats a first grader's first practice as less important than a state finals match. Every wrestler who walks through our doors gets the same standard, and the same respect.

Our mission

Why we do this.

Wrestling doesn't let a kid hide. Every practice puts them in a tough spot and asks them to work through it, not be rescued from it. That's the real skill we're teaching — how to stay level-headed and keep working when something is genuinely hard.

That skill doesn't stay on the mat. It shows up on a tough test, in a hard conversation, on a rough day at school — anywhere a kid needs to keep going instead of giving up. Our job is to build wrestlers who compete with confidence, and kids who carry that same confidence into the classroom and into life.
